TELEVIC ANNOUNCES CONFIDEA® WIRELESS (04-12-2008)

Izegem (Belgium), December 4, 2008 - Televic announces that it started shipping Confidea®, its new wireless conferencing system. Confidea®’s Multi-Band capability enables it to operate in the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band as well as in higher, much less occupied license-free bands around 5 GHz. This enables a seamless deployment of a wireless conference system in environments with dense Wi-Fi presence.

Televic raises the bar in wireless conferencing and overcomes the limitations of traditional, Wi-Fi-based systems. Confidea®’s multi-band capability expands the deployment possibilities of wireless conferencing systems considerably and allows concurrent operation of multiple systems in the same building. Moreover, when Confidea® is set to transmit in the 5 GHz band, IT people no longer need to worry about the impact on their wireless IT infrastructure. Likewise, Confidea® can operate reliably in a Wi-Fi jam-packed environment.

Building on decades of experience in the development of highly reliable conference systems, Televic engineers even further increased the stability and the robustness of the Confidea® system by implementing dedicated communication protocols that correct and compensate for any glitches in the radio link.

Confidea® comprises a full range of different models catering for the needs of various applications: from basic discussion units, over units with voting or simultaneous interpretation, to full-option units. Moreover, for basic discussion and voting systems, Confidea® can work as a stand-alone system. The Confidea Wireless Access Point then takes command and control, eliminating the need for an additional central unit and reducing investment cost. Thanks to the built-in web server and LAN connectivity, the system can be configured and monitored from any PC using a standard internet browser. Confidea® furthermore boasts a battery autonomy of at least 20 hours, an operating radius of 30 m per access point and up to 16 simultaneous interpretation channels.
